Microsoft likes to make things complicated from time to time it seems. When you right-click a file, folder or search result in Windows Vista you get the normal command menu with options to open, edit or print the marked objects. If you happen to press shift while right-clicking you will also notice that a new option has been added to the menu which is called Copy to Path.

Read more »No one can find out on which websites you have been once you delete the Temporary Internet Files, cookies and history in Internet Explorer, right ? That’s unfortunately wrong and should cause some concern by some users. The Internet Explorer is using so called index.dat files to store information even though the information contained in those files are hardly needed. The auto complete feature is using the index.dat file of visited websites.
Read more »Microsoft finally released the standalone version of the Windows Vista Service Pack 1 for 32-bit and 64-bit systems. Both versions contain five languages which are English, German, French, Spanish and Japanese. The 32-bit Service Pack 1 download has a file size of 434 Megabyte while the 64-bit file size is 726 Megabyte.
Read more »The Event Viewer is a great way to diagnose system problems in Windows. You can access the build in Event Viewer by clicking on Computer Management in the Administrative Tools section of the Control Panel. Events are sorted by type, date, source, event id and other variables. The main problem of the default Event Viewer is the lack of information and options to obtain them.
A good way to start would be to look up the Event Id in a database that contains a list of them. This has to be done manually if you use the default Event Viewer.
HD View is a new technology that is developed by Microsoft Research that aids in the display and interaction with large images with sizes of one or more Gigapixels.

Read more »I read today that Windows Update would not work with the beta version of Internet Explorer 8. I did want to check it out for myself before writing about it and went to the Windows Update website which greeted me with the error message “The site cannot continue because one or more of these Windows services is not running”, Error number: 0×8DDD0018. The services mentioned were Automatic Updates, Event Log and Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS).

Better Youtube is a compilation of Greasemonkey scripts compiled together in an add-on which has several advantages. The first is that Greasemonkey does not have to be installed to use the advanced features that the add-on provides, another that you only install one add-on and not five or six Greasemonkey scripts.
